HorseNet is in need of caring people to sponsor our horses.  Without you help we would not be able to care for the horses that need us.  You may choose to sponsor a horse that is up for Adoption, that will help with the care of that particular horse until they find their life long loving horse.  Or you can choose to Sponsor one of out Permanent Residents.  Since some of our horses cannot be adopted out, they require HorseNet to care for them for the remainder of their lives.  Some of the needs of our horses can be quite costly and having more that one Sponsor is a great gift!

Our goal is to have every horse sponsored, until they find their new home.  Please consider being a sponsor for one of our wonderful horses. (Horses may have more than one sponsor)

To become a sponsor:
  • choose who you would like to sponsor (listed below or from our for adoption page)
  • fill out our sponsor form
  • make your tax deductible contribution out to: HorseNet Horse Rescue

BANDIT
30 year old blind Appaloosa gelding used to run the barrels.

BELLE
Belle is in her mid-late 20's. She originally was a range bred Morgan - who had been a brood mare out west. When she was purchased she was covered with whip marks - has been horribly abused, which is why she doesn't like being caught. She is fine once you get her in an enclosed area - like a stall...but getting her there is iffy. She came to us when the person that purchased her from out west was unable to use her as a brood mare - she just wouldn't get pregnant any longer. Belle has suffered plenty in her lifetime -- we are happy to just be able to care for her and send her love.

Being sponsored by Christy C.
Thanks so much for your support!

BONITA
Due to her brand on her hip we feel she may have been at a premarin barn -- she is very frightened of people and only has 20% vision left. She has joined the ranks of our blind herd is a wonderful addition - she is beautiful!

CHIEF (Formerly Sammy)
Chief is a 16 year old Tennessee Walker who only has about 20% vision left. He has a cataract in one eye that is very easily seen and the other eye is loosing ground. He was found in Harford County a year or so ago when neighbors noticed him loosing weight and not being cared for.

When animal control went to investigate, they found his owner had passed away, so no one was there to care for Sammy and he severely lost weight. Once discovered, he went to a boarding facility where they were unable to cope with his blindness, so they were going to put him down when the girl that sent him to us discovered him and took him home.

After a year and half she went back to school and found that she didn't have the time he needed, so Sammy came to us. He is doing well and finally adjusting to his new home.

Being sponsored by Sharon.

HAWK
Hawk (originally known as Chief) came to us from Berk's Co. Animal Control in Pa. They had in desperation put out a plea on the internet after all other options had turned into dead ends. His name was changed to Hawk to give credence to his "flight to freedom." Hawk came to us 900#'s underweight - that is 1/2 his body weight -- and 32 years of age -- he is now 33. No one was interested in him because of his age....and the fact that he is about 95% blind. He can see a little bit and is just the sweetest guy. He had spent most of his life (he became blind at the age of 8) tied to a post in the barn because the family did not have good fencing. So, Hawk is very happy with his 2 blind buddies and his large paddock with run in shed.

Being sponsored by Steve P, CSD Financial Team. Thanks so much for your support!

17hh 12 year old TB gelding. Blind in his right eye from infection when he first came in. He is still adjusting to the blindness, so we have not been able to ride him to evaluate him.

SHADOW
Shadow came to us from Happy Trails Farm and Horse Sanctuary in Ohio. He is a 13 year old blind Standardbred. He was left to stand alone on a concrete-based stall in manure many inches thick, he was being treated for a severe case of thrush in several hooves and was suffering from malnutrition; He had no water buckets hung in his stall. Happy Trails saved him and sent him to a foster home, where he was lovingly cared for by his foster mom, Connie. Unfortunately, Connie was unable to keep him permanently, so in a search for a home, they contacted HorseNet. We welcome him to our blind herd!

Being sponsored by Linda W and Dana R.
Thanks so much for your support!

STONEY
Stoney came to us from a riding school when his eyesight became a liability. Stoney is completely blind and is keeping Blondie company within our blind herd.

VICEROY
ViceRoy is a 20 year old, 17.3 hand Shire gelding. In his former life he was a caisson horse at Arlington Cemetery where he pulled caskets for the military. ViceRoy has had several homes since then but has returned to his now permanent home at HorseNet.

ViceRoy came to us 600 pounds underweight. He was weight taped in at 1,378lbs - he should be 2,000lbs or more for his size. He had rainrot and infection in his legs to the point that all his beautiful feathers had to be cut off so his legs can heal. The girls at the farm are doing a wonderful job of pampering him, giving him much needed baths with medicated shampoos and just lots of TLC. He is very happy in his new home.

Vet check the other day proved that there are no underlying issues with his health "he just needs groceries". ViceRoy is already showing improvements and when let out into a field to get some grass took off bucking and throwing his head in glee. He will be fine and if all continues to go well he will be a representative and ambassador for HorseNet at the Horse Expo in January where he will be included in our old horse demo.

Being sponsored by John.
