This section is dedicated to the horses that were with us or their adopted families for a long time or short time, they all left their permanent hoof print on our hearts. These are our horse angels.

"There is no death. Only a change of worlds."
- Seattle (1786-1866) Suquamish Chief.

ABBY
Abby came to us from a foaling farm when she could no longer be a brood mare. She was sweet and kind - apparently cancer had a sweet tooth. The tumor she carried kept getting larger - she could not stand to be touched in that area. She went to join our spirit herd easily and I'm sure gratefully. She will be missed by all who knew her gentle spirit.

ABUSSON
Abusson or Boo, as we called him, was a champion Arabian stallion that had literally done the world. He had shown in Switzerland and taken Scottsdale by storm. His last several years were spent grazing with his pigmy goat buddy standing on his back. Boo was the stallion that let you know some can be sweet, kind and gentle.

ACE
Our Mr. Ace - aka Stripe - has been adopted and will be the first horse to Kristy. Kristy is working on regaining her confidence after a riding accident and Ace is just the horse to do it!
ACE

ALABAMA
"Don't want an old horse~!" he said when I first showed him the older Thoroughbred gelding. It wasn't too long before Damon went into the barn to see Alabama laying in his stall under his heat lamp and eight old english bull-dogge puppies playing and laying all over him. That did it - Damon was no more good and that's when Alabama stole his heart. Losing Alabama he said was losing his buddy. Alabama was the only horse he new that would play "fetch" with a stick!

ALBERT
Albert was our "old guy" - he gave up his battle at the age of 45. In his life he had been teacher to many including the blind and handicapped -- teaching them to ride while walking on egg shells. Normal people he would sit down like a dog and wonder why you got upset. He is always remembered with a smile.

AMY

ANGEL
What a sweetheart - now you really are an angel and can spend time with the rest of our HorseNet angels. Your sweet face will definitely be missed.

ANGLER PETE
He was one of the sweetest horses in the world just loved to roll in the new snow. He met up with his buddy Latin on the eternal pasture. We miss his horsey hugs.

ANNIE
Annie had been born a Thoroughbred - been the racing route and then was a broodmare. Unfortunately, she missed out on some of the finer points of life like having a loving family. We tried to fill that void by loving her just the way she was -- loud and obnoxious!

APACHE
This 36 year young caramel and white Paint charmed his mom's heart. He will be greatly missed.

AIRES
Aries - such a sweetheart - taught many kids how to ride -- just enjoyed being a horse for a while and is now free as the wind. It always seems to be the sweet ones that take the biggest chunk of your heart. RIP 9/30/2006

AUGIE
My dearest augie, thank you for coming into my life at such a horrible time... you made me strong. I saw in you what no man could, a will to live life to the fullest. Thank you so much for believing in me when I was down and thought I was a nobody. You saw something in me. I will forever be grateful for the courage you showed me. I will miss you forever my sweet boy, my man. I will never forget you my love, my comfort, my joy. Mommy will forever keep you alive in my heart. You are with your buddy Peanut. Run baby - Run. I love you so much my heart bleeds. Think of me ~ mommy.

BARNEY
Barney was a great guy that had done just about everything in his life - he had been shown, been in parades, even in a movie a long time ago -- and spent his "retirement" just being loved and pampered.

BERNIE MAC (formerly named Nimr)
He passed away peacefully and in no pain. We will never be able to replace him.

BID
Loved as much in death, as in life and very missed.

BIG AL (formerly Dreamer)
If it is possible to have a horse for a soul mate he was mine...and I will forever miss him and kissing his big cow nose. ~Michelle

BIG MACK
Today we lost our Big Macaroon - he was a mere 35+ years old. Mack was one of our special horses that we used at the powwow to represent fallen warriors. He enjoyed being the center of attention and wore his regalia proudly. He will definately be missed but always remembered. Rest comfortably dear friend - and ride the wind.

BIZ
Biz- for my friend and soul companion

It breaks our hearts to not see you standing in the field with your regal stance. You were, and I'm sure still are, a commanding free spirit that made people take notice and want to be with you. Yet you had such a loving soul that gave others comfort and peace. You taught me to trust feelings that I didn't know I had and to not be afraid to let go - it's never goodbye but hello on another plain. So hello little friend and I will see you when I get to where you are.

Your bowl you over and get out of my way with your food was always a challenge with you and good for a laugh. Your "Golden Oldies" gang miss you but envy your new freedom. Run free my friend - see all that you could not see, do all that you could not do because of your blindness. Your soul is free from all those things that held you here. Enjoy your peace and freedom but remember us that are still earth bound and help guide us to do what is right for those left behind.

So loving, handsome and proud you will be missed greatly and loved forever. We love you Biz.

Your loving family Laurinda, Tamira, Jessica And the "Golden Oldies" gang.

BLACKJACK
RIP October 2008

(L-R) Horses are Silver, Skydancer, Blackjack and Claire.

BLONDIE
Blondie quietly passed over Rainbow Bridge sometime during the night 1/30/2010. Blondie had been with us for several years and over the last 6 months or so had been showing bouts of confusion and senility. Sadly for us, but happily for her, she is now with the rest of our herd on the other side, and doesn't have to worry about being blind any longer. Run free sweetheart - you will be missed.
Blondie

BUSTER
Buster was a unique little guy that had not had very much going for him for a very long time. He was starved when he came to us and when he was gaining weight, the tumor he had was growing as well. Once he regained his personality he was such a doll and had quite a sense of humor. Every day we had with him was a delight - when you see a little white fluffy cloud screaming across the sky....that's just Buster saying hello.

CANDYMAN

CASEY
I have been working with horses for 37 years and very few have touched my heart. Casey not only touched my heart he touched my soul. I miss him everyday. Run free Casey. I will always love you.

CASSATT
Cassatt came to us from New York City - she was ridden in Central Park and was sent to us when they figured out that she was blind. She taught this young family how to ride and learn how to love.

CHANCE
Chance was the poster child for everyone who thinks it's cute to have babies and never handle them. At three years of age he refused to let his edge of wildness go and conform to society. We mourn your loss of life, but mourn more the inability of humans to accept responsibility for their actions. His situation could have been prevented. We gave him several opportunities, but the combination of survival/flight instinct, testosterone and inbreeding could not be overcome. Drink the wind Chance, you died as you lived -- wild and free.

CHAPS
Chaps was a wonderful Thoroughbred mare; the one that made me see that all Thoroughbreds aren't skitzo. She was loving and sweet and is terribly missed.

CHIEF (Formerly Sammy) CHIEF

CHOO-CHOO-CHARLIE
(registered name)
This standardbred gelding had more personality than you can possibly imagine. His front ankle was shattered on the track and before we could obtain financing for surgery he got a flesh eating bacteria in his eye that went to his brain. Financing came in the mail the day after we put him to sleep. What a wonderful personality - a people magnate -- a huge loss to those of us who loved him.

CHESSY
Chessy was a very sweet mare who was a
delight to all of us who were fortunate enough to spend time with her, but unfortunately we lost her to West Nile -- she holds a special place in all our hearts.

CHUCK

COMANCHEE
Comanchee came to us from a family that just could not afford him any longer. He had been a reining and cutting horse in his early years, and unfortunately, it took it's toll. Comanchee was not very old by our standards, but was in his late 20's and had arthritic problems making it difficult for him to get around. Good days and bad days depending on the weather changed his sweet demeanor to being cranky and grumpy, but he still enjoyed being groomed and loved on. Comanchee's grumpy self will be missed by all as he had become a constant in our herd of constantly changing faces.
image

CROMWELL
RIP 9/10/08. Formerly known as Derby Dan was one of our blind horses. He was euthanized because of complications from cancer. He had tumors that were getting larger and spreading. Some days he did not know where he was and would run into walls and over his buddy Lil Jack. We couldn't allow him to suffer any longer. Serena and Lil Jack will miss him -- but will know that he is no longer in pain. Ride the Wind -- and see the sunset, rest in peace.

CUPPA
RIP Nov 2007

DARLIN
This lady lived a long life and we were sad to see her pass. We find great comfort in knowing she is running the fields at Rainbow Bridge.

DAVINCI

RIP 05AUG09

DAWSON
Dawson's owner writes,

Well, I cant believe the day I had. It still feels like a dream. I know he had an awesome life with us. He was pampered to say the least. We all love him so much and will never forget him. Out of all the horses I have ever owned before, he, by far was the sweetest, best horse I ever had. He will be missed forever. Michele & Family

DEXTER

DIAMOND
There really is too much to say about Diamond. I could probably type a page full and still not be quite finished. What can I say, she was the love of my life. There is not one day that doesn't go by that I do not think of her and cry because I miss her so much. Diamond taught me so much, and love was one. We were attached to the hip, where ever she went I went. I had Diamond for 4 great years, and I wish I could go back and do it all over again! Diamond was put down the fall of last year due to severe arthritis. She will be missed by me and her horsey boyfriend (Dudley). Watch over us, and take care of the herd. RIP - Baby Gurl!

DJ
Dearest DJ - We have all shared many entertaining years with you (your silly little antics - that made every one laugh). You were such a special horse - being a companion a for a blind horse (Splendor). You did your job, with diginty and pride - you did this job for so many years. He will be greatly missed by all the volunteers at HorseNet. DJ was with us 5 years. And he will be missed by his blind companion Splendor. We thank their sponsers (Ashley and Devon) for giving them the special love and attention they needed. Ashley and Devon, they loved you so and you were a big part of DJ's life. He will always be remebered with a smile.

RIP February 16, 2005

DOCTOR PEPPER
Doc was much loved by Stephanie and Jim. He is their first horse and a welcome addition to their family. Sadly, at over 29, Doc died of colic and old age on August 31, 2006.

DUDLEY

RIP December 2007

DUKE
Hi I am Dukes friend and he past away Sunday morning. He came to us by chance we were picking up two other horses from Ellie. We have a trailer that holds 4 horses and we had room my husband said whats another to feed. So Ellie gave us Duke. We were the lucky ones to have been given him. We have had him just 3 short years. I will most miss him pinning his ear back and making ugly faces when he was getting his grain. And him cribbing on all my post, most he broke off at groung level. He is free to be with Gillagin to make ugly faces at him. I will miss your frendship and love you very much.

RIP October 7, 2007

DUSTY ROSE
You were so small and petite. Just the right size for my 5 years old. You were gentle and kind and had the most beautiful big eyes. You were 31 one when you passed away and unfortunately we only had you for a short period of time. You were loved and respected and will always be remembered for the way your teeth would squeak when you were chewing hay. I wish we would have had longer with you but I understand that it was your time to go. Just know that you are loved and always will be. Love, Michele, Tyler, Morgan

RIP November 2006

DUSTY ROSE
This is Dusty Rose - her new job is to be a Christmas present to a little girl who has no idea that Santa is bringing her a pony! What a wonderful surprise - one that most of us asked for and never got! What a wonderful memory!

Dusty Rose suffered from heaves. RIP June 2007

EVEREST
My dearest Ev - You left us too soon, but you will never be far from our hearts or thoughts. Your long life was filled with many ups and downs; we only hope the last years were the best. We love you dearly. Traveller misses you too; I still catch him looking behind to see if you have caught up, so I figure you are still there in spirit. You are dearly missed. Love always.

The Horse: Friendship without envy, Beauty without vanity, Nobility without conceit, A willing partner, yet no slave.

Everest passed on July 13, 2004 and at the time of his passing it was estimated he was in his late 20's / early 30's.

FANCY

RIP June 2008

FINN
Finn went to the eternal pasture earlier than many of our horses. He got off to a rocky start at his new home - only to lose the battle after everyone was happy and all the kinks were worked out. He will be missed.

FIREFLY
Firefly, my precious little girl. The sunshine of your personality is missed so much - Ellie especially misses you. Not seeing you hold court in the barn has been hard to deal with - it still hurts not seeing you there but I know you are in a place where you are truly happy, beautiful and all the things you thought you weren't down here, but we knew you were. Your dignity and mothering ways are missed so. Thank you for the love and friendship you shared with me and for allowing me to be a part of your wonderful life. I know you are up there mixing it up so - you go girl and enjoy. However, once in a while look down on us and smile because we love and miss you my dear dear friend. Love, Laurinda and the girls

RIP January 28, 2006

FRECKLES
Although we didn't have him very long, his sweetness stole our hearts. He is definitely missed.

FROSTY ROSE
A horse is just a horse except when she's yours of course. To me, she was always the prettiest horse in the field. I could feel a flutter as I drove down the drive to the farm. Where is she today? Is she way up high on the hill, somewhere in between, or down near the fencing? I couldn't wait to see her -- Frosty Rose -- my chestnut colored Quarter horse with one white stocking. No matter how many horses were in the field, I only had eyes for Frosty. She is gone now and I can only remember the wonderful times we had during the past three and a half years. I was good to her and she was so good to me. We had such a special bond. Your friends now miss you, Frosty, especially, Maudy, Dakota and Granite. I hope by now you are running with your old friends, Casey and Hershey. I know they will take care of you. I love you, Frosty. Connie

RIP July 16, 2004

GEMMY
Is a Thoroughbred gelding in his mid-late 20’s.  He is looking for a career as a companion. He has wonderful ground manners and loves the girls. No major medical issues. Barefoot.

RIP February 2010

GILLIGAN
Gilligan went to join the rest of the HorseNet herd due to founder. His little girl Emily is devastated -- and he is sorely missed.

RIP July 19, 2005

GINGER
Ginger - one of the sweetest in the field no longer has to worry with pain as she has definately gone to a more beautiful place with all our other HorseNet angels.

RIP February 10, 2008

GINGER
1985 16hh Thoroughbred mare. She is wonderful to ride and should give many wonderful trail hours to the lucky person that adopts her. Requires an intermediate rider.

RIP February 19, 2008

GOLDIE
This golden oldie passed on January 13, 2005 after a long life; she was over 30 years old. When it was her time she let us know and we were happy and privileged to have known her.

HANK
An aged quarter horse taught many how to ride. In his last home he taught the family of a jockey that there is worth in older horses. He became a valued member of their family and left a huge hole in their hearts when he passed away. Many happy trails friend.

HANNAH
Unfortunately, we never really knew how old Hannah was, but she was over 25. Apparently, an obstruction caused her to colic and the decision was made to let her go. She now has all the grass and grain she want and never needs to worry about foundering again. She is running free and in no pain. Hannah had finally found a home where she was loved and cherished. Her companion mourns her passing.

HARLEY
Even though you were only home 4 months Harley, you had my heart since the first day I walked into that rescue. You were gentle and kind, loving and understanding and always very tolerate of the “younger” horses that you loved to mother. Thanks for helping out with Kahlua, I definitely needed your guidance. I would wash and brush you and the sun would glisten off your beautiful white coat and the minute I let you back in the pasture, you would lay down and roll. No matter if you were clean or dirty you were beautiful in my eyes and now you are running free in pastures with all the other HorseNet Angels. Please watch over me and guide in me in the right way as I learn the world of horses. We will all miss you and we loved you very much! Run Free! Love, Michele, Tyler, Morgan and your horse friends (Nick, Kahlua, Maggie, Dexter and Foxfire)

HERSHEY
Hershey was just like his name, a big horse the color of a chocolate kiss and twice as sweet. Hershey loved to get brushed and just have lots of attention and loved to meet the new volunteers with a hug. He will be remembered with a smile.

HONEY
When Honey came to me she was in a foster situation. It did not take either of us long to realize she was finally home. She was not the prettiest horse in my field, but she had a heart that was second to none. I know God will take care of you until we are together again. We (the herd and I) love and miss you Honey.

HOWARD
We laid to rest Mr. Howard -- he gave a good fight but cancer won the war. He is pain free and running the forever pasture with the rest of our angels. His "attitude" and presence will be missed.

IRISH TRIM
You will always be remembered Trimmy!
Love - your family in New Windsor

JD
This 21 year old 16 hand chestnut Quarter horse, along with Buddy, has brightened the lives of their new people, Becky and Jay.

It has been one year ago today that JD left us to go to the Rainbow Bridge. He took with him the hearts of all who knew him. Crippled with arthritis in the beginning from being too good at his job as a Champion Roper, with care and determination he had the best years of his life with us. He loved his new "job," teaching little neighborhood girls to ride. He never understood why he couldn't go with his friend Buddy on the trails, and he always looked so self satisfied after walking his little girls around. He never knew that his purpose in life was to teach us the meaning of love and determination. He never gave up, until one year ago he met a challenge he couldn't fight. He died surrounded by my husband and myself and he felt our love to the end. I know he comes back to romp with Buddy all the time, pain free and warm. And he probably wonders why I am crying when he is so happy. Rest in Peace, old friend. I know we will meet again. Becky [Photo]

JD (L) and Buddy (R)

JERICHO (formerly Joker)
21 year old Appaloosa gelding who in the past has had problems adjusting to new situations due to loss of eyesight. He is settling in now to the blind field and has a new buddy Bandit.

RIP March 15, 2010

JESSIE
Jessie was 28 and had a hard life. She raced for a little bit and then became a broodmare. When she first came to HorseNet she didn't really know what people were. She was just starting to come around. We loved her for the unique individual she was.

JOURNEY
This is Journey - aka Brownie to her adopters. She came from Rhode Island - sold at a camp horse sale....she then went to New Holland where she was purchased and sent to HorseNet. She ended up in this wonderful home where she had roam of the property. Most sunny days you could find her hanging out on their front porch....waiting for someone to give her a treat out the window. What a character and a wonderful addition to their life. She is terribly missed.

KARRIE

Karrie, Our beautiful baby Girl, we miss you so much, there isnt a day goes by that you are not in our thoughts, when you came to us, you were so hurt and confused, in your mind you thought no one wanted you or could ever love you, that is til your daddy laid eyes on you, he fell in love with you that second and you with him, with me it took you a little longer, you had some trust issues but you and I overcame them and you became my little girl too.

Karrie you taught me more about patience and trust and love than any human could have and when you finally realized that Dad and I meant you were ours forever, you blossomed.

Towards the end though Karrie we knew you were hurting and thats why we looked for guidance to know for sure it was your time to fly free.. It hurt to let you go, but we know you are here with us and that you are no longer in pain.
Thank you Karrie, you did more for Dad and I than you will ever realize.

We love you Baby Girl, Mom and Dad

Karrie passed away on September 13, 2006

LATIN
This Thoroughbred with a heart of gold lost the ultimate battle to West Nile. He is terribly missed.

LATTE
RIP 10.14.08

LAZER
Sadly, Lazer lost his battle with his infection and was laid to rest on August 21, 2006. We used all sorts of traditional and alternative therapies, but the damage was too severe and there was nothing more we could do. Lazer's situation helps us realize that the work we do for all the horses is important and that they all need our help, donations, support and prayers. Please let Lazer's suffering help educate many to understand and that is was not for nothing.

LONDON BRIDGE
London got down to take a nap and couldn't get back up. They tried for 5 hours to get him up, but his body had just given out. He was put to sleep with those that loved him around him.

RIP December 10, 2008

MAGGIE
What can I say about my diamond in the rough. You had a heart of gold Maggie and you always knew what to do even when I didn't. You taught me so much and gave me confidence beyond my expectations. I was never afraid when I was on your back (my little Sherman tank). The day I lost you, I lost a piece of my heart. No one will ever take your place. I think of you everyday when I go out to feed the rest of the gang. I wish you were still here but I know you were tired. Know that you are in my heart and in my thoughts. I still talk about your gentle ways and still tear up when I think of you. I love you Maggie May, you were a Champion in my eyes! Love Michele, Tyler and Morgan

MAJOR DEAL
Major Deal was really a major deal to everyone at HorseNet. He was huge, but gentle and just a ton of hugs on the hoof. His loss of eyesight made him especially dear, he was one of the first lovely faces you saw when you came down the driveway. The farm will not be the same without him.

RIP March 2003

MARIE
At the time Marie was put down she was in her 30's. We had Marie for 4 great years, she was a great riding horse and taught me a lot. Marie passed away due to melanomas, and arthritis. We had a lot of great times and memories togather! She will be remebered with a smile!

MAX
Maximillion was over 30 years old when he passed. He had gotten cast against the barn, and struggled all night to get up, but wasn't strong enough to pull through the stress of struggle. He was a doll and we loved him. He will be greatly missed.

MIKEY
Mikey came to us from a lady that had rescued him -- he was very thin and had back problems. When he got down and couldn't get back up we had to let him go. At over 17 hands -- he was alot to pull up...and he just got tired.

MISTY
Misty - somewhere in her 30's, she has "been-there-done-that" - still rideable for those lazy pasture rides - she loves it!

RIP 06 December 07

OCEAN
Ocean had severe Heaves, he had been loosing weight and really looking bad despite our best efforts to fatten him up. Today he gave up his fight and went peacefully to join our other Angels! He will be missed, we all really fussed over him trying to get him better. Thanks to everyone for their efforts to help him!

OSCAR
It is with great sadness that I write to tell you that sweet Oscar died early last week. He had taken a bad turn over the summer where he lost a lot of weight. After several vet visits and ruling out various illnesses, the vets determined that he most probably had cancer. We treated him with several months of steroids hoping to help him gain some weight and perhaps make it through the winter but his decline was so sudden that we knew we were just hoping for the best. We kept him as comfortable as we could until the end.

RIP November 2008

OZZIE
Ozzie was put to sleep after a freak accident. I loved Ozzie and will miss him dearly. He was my special horse and will be horribly missed. ~ Sherry

RIP March 29, 2006

PALOMA
Paloma was more than just a pet or a companion to me. She was one of my best friends. She was always there for me to talk to, even if she wasn't really listening. I have had her for 4 years now and they were the best years of my life. She lived to the wonderful age of 28 and I like to think that I kept her young. we had many great rides together. Rest in peace Pretty Girl. I love you and I'll miss you forever. Watch over Buddy and Levi.

RIP March 21, 2007

PEACHY

13 year old Thoroughbred

Peach you were a mischievous toddler that never grew up. You could always find something to entertain yourself or others. You always had someone at the barn taking bets on how long it would take you to get me off your back. We have six years of great stories that you have left us with. Thank you for the time you gave us. You will be missed greatly.

Your loving family,
Diane, Bill, Morgan, Tommy and your barn friends

RIP June 16, 2006

PEANUT
No one will ever fill the void left by our Mr. Peanut. So sweet and comical - always a dear but with just enough salt to keep everyone on their toes. He suffered with a fractured hip for a long time but it didn't keep him from getting around or dragging you if you weren't going in the right direction (the way he wanted to go). Rest well dear friend ~ pain free ~ the HorseNet herd is waiting for you with open arms. We love you.

RIP March 1, 2005

PLAYBOY
Playboy was one of our older boys who we just couldn't find a home for -- only because even with his age, he just never slowed down! What a great personality.....and his sweetness won't be easily forgotten.

RIP 15DEC09

POLLY
Polly had a rough life from the get go. When she came to us she had no use for people as they had done very few kind or good things for her. Respect became a word that you would relate to when you saw Polly. She expected it, she demanded it and we gladly gave it. Polly never gave up no matter how badly she was treated, she still survived. She taught us many lessons and we hope we were able to teach her that all humans aren't the same, some do care.

PUFF
Puff fought cancer - won many small battles, but it finally won the war. We tried everything we knew, but had we loved her enough to let her go rather than have her in pain. What a joy and a smile she was - our time with her is cherished.

REMARK
Remark spent his last few years being a best friend to a 30 year old Lipazzan mare. He followed her to the eternal pasture after only a year. His family misses him deeply.

RINGO
Ringo died on August 31 due to a collapsed larynx.

Ringo - I still look out in the field for you. I have only been down to see the others a couple of times since your passing. Every time I talk to Pepper I get upset or should I say, sad. I miss the way you smelled, dirt and all. Pepper and Elle do not smell anything like you did. I miss the way the sunlight turned you red and I loved to watch you swish your tail in the sunlight. You turned out to be such a beauty or was it because I loved you more. I miss the cute way you quirked your eyebrow at me when you thought I said something stupid. And most of all I miss the way you would let me hug your face even when you were mad at me. I miss and think about you more than I thought I would. Elle, thank you so much for bringing him into my life. Your scent is fading, and maybe one day so will the pain. I love you always, Donna

ROGER

ROMEO (formerly named Wilber)
Romeo had found himself a loving home with his new mom. Unfortunately fate stepped in and Romeo suffered a bad bout with colic and lost. He was lovingly laid to rest on 24 Oct 2005.

ROOSTER
Big and red like a rooster, he was a very sweet guy. Lameness issues kept him from finding a permanent home away from HorseNet, but he has a permanent home with us always in our hearts.

ROSEBUD
Rosie passed unexpectedly on January 12, 2005. She spent her last moments with her best pal, Sandy, who never left her side. We will miss her dearly and mourn the passing of our dearest Rosie.

ROXY
Taught me how to ride bareback - taught me patience and how to listen. In 25 years you taught me many things. Always missed--Elle

RUSTY
Loved as much in death, as in life and very missed.

SADIE
Update: Sadie is going into foster care where she will be treated and cared for by Celine, an acupuncturist who, along with her friend Critter, will be enlisting a farrier for special shoes and her vet for special care. Sadie will be spoiled rotten and will be loving life!

This gentle giant, 12 year old Belgium mare has bad hoof problems and will be a permanent resident if we can't get her better.

SECRET
Her life was short but her sweetness will stay with us for a very long time. She will be remembered with a smile.

SEQUENCE
Sequence was her real name, but I called her "Bedhead" because her winter coat would grow out like she slept on it funny. She was an old girl. I think she was 32 when she passed, but still had that spark in her eye when she saw the curry comb come out. She loved to be groomed. She had so many "itchy" spots that would send her to seventh heaven when I scratched them. She would camel lip like crazy, and sometimes she would almost fall down because she was in such a state of bliss. She took her time getting around, that is, unless the vet pulled out a needle, then she would take off like Seabiscuit. I hope she knows that no matter what she went through in her tough life, she was loved by me. I miss her.

SHAWNEE
In Tribute to my best girl...Shawnee.

And God took a handful of southerly wind, blew his breath over it and created the horse. "Bedouin Legend"

Shawnee, you were only with us for a few short months, but the minute you stepped off the trailer, you were home. When your legs were in pain, you never let us know... you were always courageous, willing, amazing, and never gave up. And, I knew you wouldn't...so I had to take the pain from you myself. I now believe you are painfree and running like the wind with all your friends. I hope someday you will forgive me. It was the most tearful day of my life.

Mom and Dad love you and think of you often. Willow and Cady miss you
very much. You are in our hearts forever.

God forbid I should go to any heaven where there are no horses. "R.B. Cunningham Graham"

SISSY (MOMMA)
We only had Sissy 6 short years, but she was my babysitter and the first face I saw in the morning. She would follow the kids around even if they didn't have a treat. She loved the kids and was willing to give everyone a ride. Many kids their first ride. Her best friend in the world was Katie my 16year old daughter. They were together from the first day until the last second she was with us. We will miss her more then words can say. Sissy run free with Peanut and your other horse net friends. We will see you again.

SOPHIE
Sophie was a great personality - loved to make people wonder about her when she stuck her tongue out for all the world to see. We will miss her sense of humor and gentleness.

SPIRIT
Spirit - aka Dutchess was very special - she remained aloof like any member of royalty till the very end.....and showed us her steel as she calmly and purposefully walked up the field to the trailer. The blind girls in her field all said their goodbyes, and her friend Murphy watched from the corner - restraining himself as he knew she would not want him to make a scene. She passed with dignity and knew that we did all that we could for her. The possibility of cancer and tumors did not leave us many choices. We gave her all we could -- and our most precious gift - our love.

SPLENDOR
RIP July 25, 2008

It's very sad that I must tell everyone that we lost Splendor today - he was a mere 42 years old (according to the paperwork that we got with him when originally donated). When I got to the farm this morning I found that he had broken his right front leg - towards the shoulder.

I gave him 10cc of Banamine to help with the pain before the vet got there - .and he was laying down in the back of the room towards the gate. I called Ashley and they were able to say their goodbyes. Devon sat with him and kissed his face -- over and over -- everyone was crying, including the vet. I told her that one thing people can't say is that the horses at HorseNet are not loved.

Splendor will a very special angel for us. ~ Elle

THANK YOU BUBBY - for all the LOVE and Lunch Dates we shared! We will miss your daily nickers but also know D.J. has waited to hear them again. Because of the special bond we have, you will always live on in our hearts. Remembering you will put a smile on our face. You were the most handsome grandpa around! We will keep Bandit company for you so he's not lonely. We knew you were a star from the minute we met you - - KEEP SHINING BRIGHT FOR US!

SQUAW
In Memory of our Beloved Squaw

My family would like to thank you and Horsenet for bringing Squaw into our lives. When we lost Barney my daughter was so upset she didn't want another horse. But Squaw won't have that.. She taught Penny and everyone else that it was truly possible to love another horse but to not forget the one before. Everyone loved her and will greatly miss her. Her spirit is running in greener pastures over the Rainbow bridge and she is free again to romp and play. We love you Squaw and will miss you. Again many thanks to you and Horsenet for bringing her into our lives.

SUMMER
Summer was a huge Percheron / Thoroughbred cross whose personality matched her size and presence. She has a wonderful personality that just reached out and grabbed you - if she were a person, you would notice her the second she walked into a room filled with people. She made sure you noticed her when you walked into her field.

SWEETIE
Sweetie was well over 30 years old, although she did not look it. She ran the field the way she saw fit and enjoyed the last 10 years she had with us. We loved her for the remarkable individual she was and will always be in our hearts.

TANGO
Our first experience with blind horses -- she had what we called selective sight. When she wanted to see you she did -- otherwise she just ran over you. She taught my daugher how to persevere.....stick to it -- and just have fun with riding. She is still missed.

TRUDY
Trudy was a sweet and gentle soul who has gone to be with her friend Angel. She died as she lived with dignity and courage. I will miss her presence every day, but I know her suffering is over and her spirit runs free and strong. Bear is waiting to meet you, Trudy, and show you his favorite beach to walk on!

TURK

WHISPER
Whisper was over 30 when she passed away quietly one night in the stall she loved. She always nickered when she heard people coming for her morning feeding, but that morning they knew something was wrong when there was no nicker. Whisper has a never ending supply of applesauce (one of her favorite treats). She is missed.
